Hi CCFesters,
I hope you're all doing well! It's been a busy and productive Spring, and I'm looking forward to the summer ahead. I have some exciting updates to share with you, as well as a few opportunities to get involved with upcoming events and initiatives. I'll be back in late summer (August or September) with more events, workshops, and classes, but in the meantime, I'm available for 1:1 check-ins if that would be helpful for you. Let me know if you’d like to schedule a meeting!

On March 15, I hosted an exciting virtual CC Fest, which brought together educators, coders, and creatives from all over the world. If you missed the event, no worries! The full recap is available, along with the videos from all the sessions. We were fortunate to have three amazing keynote speakers: Saskia Freke, Olivia Jack, and Kawandeep Virdee, who shared insights into their work in creative coding, generative art, and digital storytelling.
The event also featured 11 hands-on workshops, covering a wide range of topics from basic creative coding with p5.js to advanced AI-driven art explorations. These workshops were designed to give participants practical tools to enhance their coding skills and use those skills to create meaningful and visually engaging projects. You can access all the session videos and resources through the links provided in the recap.
Looking ahead, I plan to bring Virtual CC Fest back in August or September. If you're interested in participating, collaborating, or volunteering, please reach out!

This past weekend, I wrapped up another successful round of my Coding for Educators class through CC Fest Teacher Camp. It’s been an enriching experience, and I am grateful for the enthusiasm and creativity that the educators brought to the class. We covered a variety of coding concepts, focusing on how to integrate creative coding tools into the classroom.
Throughout the course, we explored topics like generative art, algorithmic thinking, and the use of p5.js for creative expression. We were also fortunate to have guest talks from some incredible educators: Dan Shiffman (professor at NYU-ITP, Coding Train on YouTube, Processing (Java), p5.js, ml5.js), Kevin Workman (happycoding.io, creative coder, software engineer and trainer, curriculum developer), and Dr. Emily Thomforde (Professor of Computer Science, Reach University, curriculum developer, teacher trainer, cs ed expert).
You can view the complete scope and sequence of what we covered in the course and see how each session built on the last, from introducing basic coding principles to exploring advanced techniques like interactive design and generative art. Feedback from the participants has been overwhelmingly positive, and I’m excited to offer another round of classes in the fall (October/November).
If you're interested in joining or have any questions about the class, feel free to reach out. I’m also looking for a teaching assistant or collaborator for future sessions, so let me know if you're interested in helping out!
